Swanage Museum is delighted to announce the opening of their new shop.  With the help of Purbeck District Council we have taken over the running of the retail outlet.  This enterprise is being staffed completely by volunteers and is an exciting move forward in the Museum's history.  It is to be hoped that the shop will bring in much needed funds to ensure the Museum's long term future in these hard economic times.  Come and visit us next time you are in Swanage, we look forward to your visit

Julian Richards opening the Museum in 2006

Opening Hours:
New Location

We have moved from our old home at the Tithe Barn to a new home.  Relocation of the Museum to the Heritage Centre during the winter of 2005/6 proved very successful and has received many favourable comments from the wider museum community in Dorset and beyond.

Construction and display work was undertaken entirely by museum volunteers

The transfer was made possible by Heritage Lottery Funding, secured by Purbeck District Council and the County Museums Advisor.
